Here are some tips for spooky
Halloween games
Halloween Party Games
To add some fun and frolic to the Halloween celebrations, games are
must. The theme of the games must match with the theme of the occasion.
Here are a few ideas for some scary and spooky games.
1. Mummy Wrap
Things Required
- White crepe paper
- Spooky music
How to play
- Divide the kids into teams of two and give each pair a roll of
white crepe paper. Instruct one member of each team to race to wrap
his partner, mummy-style, at the sound of the music (play something
devilish) Kids must use up the whole roll, avoiding the head and
wrapping arms separately from the torso.
- Once wrapped, the mummy hops to a finish line, holding his arms
to his sides and trying not to break any of the wrapping.
- Award the winning team, reverse partners' roles and then start
again with fresh rolls of crepe paper.
2. Guess The Ghost
How to play
- Have one child leave the room. Then take a large sheet and have a
different (child) stand and hide under the sheet.
- Mix up the remaining children in the room and then allow the
child who left the room to come back inside.
- That child has to guess who is the ghost. By the process of
elimination they need to figure out which child is hiding under the
sheet.
- Then that "Ghost" goes out of the room and a different
child becomes the new ghost, mix up the remaining children and
repeat until all of the children have had a turn being the ghost.
3. Zombie Tag
Things Required
- Gross rubber mask
- Rubber gloves
- Blindfold
How to play
- Outside, rope off a circular area, or lay down some sweatshirts
in a circle.
- Blindfold one of the childs and yell "out-of-bounds!"
to your blindfolded zombie. Make sure it is a trip-proof playing
area.
- The blindfolded child wears the rubber mask (with blindfold) and
rubber gloves.
- Everyone has to stay within the circle while he wanders around
with his arms stretched out in front, zombie style.
- When the blindfolded zombie groans, all the players must groan
back and extend their arms. This is how the zombie zeroes in on his
victims.
- When a player gets tagged, he becomes the next zombie and gets to
wear the mask.
4. The Hanging Tree
Things Required
- 13 Apples (12 red and one green).
- String
- Blindfold
How to play
- " Tie each of the apples to a tree so they can swing freely.
To avoid kids from memorizing where the green apple is just loosely
tie the strings together.
- " Take a child and tell them to close their eyes and make a
wish. As they do you blindfold them. Once blindfolded you spin them
around and say this rhyme with them.
13 Apples hanging from a tree,
12 dark red and one bright green blindfolded,
spun around, and then set free
Is that green one meant for me?
- Release the apples and point the child in the right direction.
They then will stumble about and pick an apple.
- If they get the green one their wish will come true!
- Before the next child goes, replace the apple and move the green
one.
5. Witch Hunt Game
Things Required
How to play
- Cut out paper witch hats according to the number of people at the
party.
- Color two hats a different color from the rest.
- Hide all the witch hats throughout the house.
- Send the kids to find all the hats.
- The kids who find the different colored hats get the biggest
prize and the two who got the most hats collected get the next
biggest prize.
